Default steering wheel? good? bad?

I was thinking of getting a custom steering wheel for the s2k. I would keep the stock wheel but when I saw the prices for an airbag I Freeked out. What do you guys think? Would it look good? Feel good?
I was think of getting a momo wheel Like this one.

Sorry, I guess I missed the background on your situation. Your airbag deployed, and you need to either replace it or replace the wheel?

If it were me, I would replace the airbag no matter what the cost was. One would figure that after replacing the seats and installing a harness, the airbag might be less necessary... However I would still be reluctant to do without it. I'm sure you've already thought about that though.

Yea, I would want an airbag just in case. Dose any one know if the Ricks steering wheel comes with an air bag? or do they expect you to use the current one?

if the car is a track car with harnesses, do not get an airbag...i'm pretty sure they're illegal in most series anyways. but if it's a street car, you cannot go without one. It might be illegal to drive a car on the street without an airbag if it came with one OEM. Get a new bag, put on a rick's badge if you need customization (though I'd be hesitant to do this, i dont want anything launched at my face at 300 MPH if i get in a crash) or get the different colors for the rim. Keep your bag, keep your life. pay it.

I believe he's referring to rick's steering wheel badges that were discontinued due to the dangers they introduced upon airbag deployment.

yeah, exactly...the factory airbag vinyl is designed to split apart when the airbag deploys, and if you put a badge on it the badge would get shot straight out at the driver's head because it would not split apart too. I didn't know they were discontinued, but that's good.

hmm the steering wheel you are showing looks like the one I saw in evo yesterday, the evo had airbag, I think if u want that design but with airbag u could order one from mitsu (here in CA u could get a fairly big ticket for "disablish safety equipment", not to mention ur insurence would lov u if u crashed and didn't have an airbag... they'd have grounds to deny u part of the coverage), but I believe they are like $1800...

so prolly best to just get factory honda unit... just my 2 cents

I can see it on the police report: "cause of death= impact from plastic disc"

to those who don't care, it's one of those "unnecessary" risks I'm always spouting off about. whatever, it's not my head that's at risk. I'd just as soon add an explosive to the fuel tank so that if i got in a low speed accident it automatically went off, that's about as dangerous as a low speed airbag deployment with a Rick's Badge....

that said, they look really sharp on the outside and wheels. shave all the badges but the engine and steering wheel, and the car looks hot! (maintain that honda identity, be proud!)
