Steering Wheel Falling Apart?
#21
I had an old 240SX with a leather wheel. When it got hot in the summer or humid the leather would get all sticky and black crap would come off on your hands. I think it was just the leather being really old and a lot of sweaty hands on it. It was only like that around the top of the wheel where most people put their hands.

I would suggest that you clean the wheel with a very mild soap (ivory) and warm water. Dry it off completely wait about 1/2 hour and put a high end leather conditioner on it.
It is very possible that the previous owner used something like Armoral on it and over a period of time it built up in the pours of the leather and when it gets hot it oozes out. All the leather conditioner does is continue to lock in all the dirt and oils, that is why every so often you need to clean the leather & then re-condition it. I an not suggesting that you wash the seats with soap and warm water, but something like Lexol would be a good one to use.

that mean the steering wheel was already messed up
when i used to work at a big dealer, they would hire some guy to come and put a thin clay and spray paint it perfect, you couldn't tell it had been fixed and a few monthes or a year later it falls apart.
