<<Flux Capacitor Engages to 2006>>

I found this old thread in the archives while researching a problem I just experienced (MY04).... thought it may help someone else out since I haven't seen it discussed before.

I was leaving a restaurant after picking up take out food this afternoon... perhaps I was in a hurry to drive off. As I am backing out I notice the car is much harder to steer and "EPS" is lit on the dash. I shut her down, popped the hood and checked all the fluid levels. Not finding anything wrong, I restarted the car, EPS light goes off and I have power steering again. Seems consistent with the above theory (I hope) but if so, it seems odd that this is not more commonly discussed.

Did you you find that you were low on steering fluid?

Someone probably stole your power steering pump while you were gone. You should check to see if you can find it.

Although this hasn't happened to me, if it ever does this info will come in handy.

At the time, I did not know what the "EPS" light even signified, checking under the hood for obvious problems never hurts (relatively new owner).

But thanks anyway for cutting me some slack brother. I may have had my power steering pump stolen, but at least I didn't loose my sense of humor or willingness to help someone else out!

Hey....I was j/k. It's a joke that many of us year 2000 members have learned to harass newer members with.
