Is Spoon ECU worth the money? What do the mean by 'core charge'?

Is Spoon ECU worth the money? What do the mean by 'core charge'?
I'm thinking about the Spoon ECU, but want to see how people think about it before i put it in. Any opinions?

The core charge is added to your purchase because they want you to send them your ECU(aka "the core") in return. They probably modify stock ECU's to become Spoon ones. They will refund you the core charge when they receive yours.

Yow! Why would anyone give up their stock ECU? I would think it would be nice to be able to return the car to stock, reactivate the immobilizer, etc. when you wanted to.
