Well heck, yeah I spin the tires through a 1-2 shift a lot... not on 2-3 though...

I pretty much have to pop the clutch for every shift, sure there is SOME control of the clutch, but I let it out so fast that there's just much of it. Every time I try to take it easy between high-rev shifts, it seems like I ride the clutch and gas too early before engaging the next gear, thus resulting in clutch wear. It seems like this transmission was made to let out the clutch extremely fast for high rev shifts

With the short throws you shouldn't have any problems chirping 1-2. Tap the clutch and hit 2nd and they should spin as long as your clutch is healthy. Or you can power shift to really smoke them (don't let off the gas). Not recommended though.

You really shouldn't have to modulate the clutch. You can hit second without touching the clutch. I usually just put enough pressure so that it barely disengages (just past the feeplay stage). Or just throw a 4-puck in there

Finally, take the car to the track to learn these things and keep it off the street, especially if this is your first car. Drive safe.

It's easy to do, but why would you? You're not going as fast as you could if you're spinning tires.

This is dependent on your powerband though. If slipping the clutch or spinning the tires (we are talking about a quick screech not a big burnout) keeps you in your power band then it MAY be faster. (especially in the 04 that drops out of VTEC going to 2nd)

Also, if you could increase your traction to the point that quick shifts do NOT spin the tires, then that would be fine. But if you can screech them, and you don't, you are reducing your power output at some point (letting off gas, slipping clutch) which could slow you down more then the split second loss of traction.

But in this car, who cares about going straight!

Wouldn't it be bad for your car's LSD if you keep spinning your tires?
