Found this from some aol spam, nice articles in a few. Although some may think speed is a recipe for disaster, i think its the people doin 55 in the fast lane who should also be penalized.

portions of highways without speed limits, such as the Autobahn, carry negligibly higher accident rates compared to US highways with limits of 55 or 65. This could however be due to the fact that there are far less idiots in the incorrect lanes, and generally moronic people behind the wheel here

The speed limits are not the problem in the US. It's the increasing apathy towards other drivers, courtesy, and operating a motor vehicle in general that's causing all the problems.
Do you really want bad drivers going faster?

I'm all for a faster speed limit, on well maintained roads, but we can't handle that.
I'm sure though that if we implemented strict traffic laws, and either had hands-free only or no cell phone use during driving that we might see things change.
And I'm sure once that happens, people would be like, OMG where are my freedoms, they're being taken away!
But we'll continue to overpopulate and build bigger freeways where people can swerve and speed in and out of traffic, and those in the left lane can go 45, and ugh...
I know speed can and is a contributing factor for accidents, but I wonder what the percentage is. I'm sure there are more accidents involving 2 or more cars than there are just one car losing control due to speed.
