That's what I thought too. Which is why I am going to get the quote in writing. Once they quote me the labor, it's on them to get it done. Not me.

I'd be very interested to know if they would put that in writing and give a description of the work. I'd hate to see them cut out the old window and glue in a new one.

35 bucks? Even if you get it in writting that number can change, but they have to tell you first. The $250 SilverKnight said is about right for a dealership, maybe a little higher. There is alot more than 1/2 an hour of labor in doing the rear window. ALL of the rear interior trim has to come out and the lower part of the window is riveted to the top.
I charged $175 to replace someones rear window and it took me around 2.5 hours to do.
If you know someone in your area that can work on a car, it is a pretty easy job. The worst part is taking all the panels out....

SCoach:
Just an idea here -- just food for thought. I have been looking for a car for my adult daughter (age 31) at her request for advice. She only has one car, needs a bigger one than an S2k, and can't afford an S2k anyway. Maybe about half the price! As we all know, down in the $ mid-teens, pickin's get mighty slim! I stumbled upon the Scion tC for her, drove it, and really liked it FAR better than anything with its MSRP of $16,500. In fact, liked it better than cars priced up to $5K more. Most all the equipment anybody would want is standard. If you want a bigger car than an S2k, and a low price, I can't find anything to beat this Scion. And, if anybody does, please tell me!
Thanks,
Richard

That's a good thought. However, I plan to move to the Rocky mountains and the 4wd of the Subaru will be very welcome. I might bypass it for an Element though if I wait until next year to purchase. I think the Element should be just about at the right price range by then. And I like them.
