Normally I wash the car with Mothers car wash, and I've used a mothers or meguiars product twice to take scratches off the plastic window. There was no obvious problem with the window prior to this morning.

I suppose I'll use clear tape on the window to keep the rain out for the next week or so until I can get the damn thing replaced. What A PITA. At least this time, I'll be able to keep it nice and hopefully relatively scratch free.

The "Millyun" comment was lifted from the Mike Meyers/Austin Powers movie...

Well, I just called my Honda dealer. They quoted me $304 for the window and $35 (half an hour) to install it. If I had the cash I'd do it right now and hold them to that. However, I am going to get that in writing next week, and have them do it.

I'm thinking this sounds too good to be true, but I am going to take them at their word.

I don't know what your financial situation is, but, if you intend to keeping the car for quite a while longer and since you have to replace the rear window anyway, you might consider having the top upgraded to the glass rear window. I'm not certain but I think you'll have to replace the whole top to do this which is certainly "not" cheap but you won't have to worry about that back window cracking in cooler weather again. Just a thought.......

Good luck!

I think another thread addressed this problem indirectly. The older models have a zipper around the plastic window that the dealer can use to replace just the window. Since you're spending money though, maybe go for the whole new top?

Nah, I was gonna trade the car in November anyway. As long is it's fixed and doesn't leak, I'll be fine. If for some reason I decide to keep the car, I'll replace the whole thing next spring.

I love the S2k, but I really could use a larger trunk. So it'll either be a Subraru or a Civic for me. I'll miss the droptop though.

What I don't understand is that the dealership quoted only a half-hour in labor to replace the rear window. Looking at the Helms manual, it looks like it would take much longer to replace the rear window properly. There's a lot more involved than unzipping the window and zipping on a new one.

That's what I thought too. Which is why I am going to get the quote in writing. Once they quote me the labor, it's on them to get it done. Not me.
