It appears that it's already time for me to replace the platinum plugs (OEM NGK PFR7G-11's). The strange thing is that I'm only at 29,000 miles. The reason I'm replacing them is everything I've read says that if the center electrode appears rounded over, replace the plug. Well, all four of mine are rounded already.
I was thinking of the Nippon Denso IK22's, an iridium plug. I guess iridium is a harder material than platinum, so I'm hoping that it will last longer. Honda says the stock plugs can go for 100,000 miles. This is either a joke, or I got a bad set of plugs.
Is anyone using the iridium plug? Any problems with it? i.e. Does the plug keep itself clean, any problems with fouling, etc. Thanks for any input you can provide.
p.s. I tried searching for this information, but it appears that search is not functional yet...
p.s.s. For anyone that has inspected your plugs recently, how did they look? How many miles on them? Just curious.

Many of the posters here are pushing the IK24s at one heat range cooler.
That said, I have been running the IK22s for over 3 years and zero problems. I gapped them at 0.035 inches and never looked back. Excellent plugs but use care in adjusting the gap as the center electrode can break easily.
Sparkplugs.com has quick service and low prices. Less than 1/2 of what Autobachs is asking.
