I searched for this noise for a LONG time before finding it was the spare tire. The problem is you can have the tire generally tightened down and big bump will cause it to shift, requiring it to be tightened down again. The solution was to keep moving the tire around after tightening until it couldn't move at all.

I took the car in for a safety recall for the seat belt tensioners. 2 days, a loaner, lost insurance card, and shift knob installed backwards later, I got my car back from the dealer (only time its ever been there thanks to this site). So over the next 2 weeks, driving around I started hearing a clunk form the passenger side. Sure enogh it got worse every day - I'm thinking "oh crap, back to the dealer"...til I found this post on a search.
Thanks S2ki!!!!!! Because of this site and its contributing members I have learned how to change: eng oil, trans oil, diff oil, antifreeze flush, numerous TSB's, and much more. An afternoon with my car saves me hundreds every year on maintenance.
