Sources say JDM market retains 2.0 & adds 2.2 for '04
Not sure that this has been posted here before, but on the Miata.net board, Bob Hall, (who worked on the Mazda Miata and still is "plugged in" to the car industry in Japan) says that Honda will keep the 2.0l engine in Japan for '04 as well as adding the 2.2l:

Probably has something to do with the tax/fee structure there with cars. As I recall, above 2 liters, you get hit with a bunch more fees.
