Sore Throat after stuck in traffic - hood up
Hi guys,
I just wanted to check if I am the only one facing this issue...
Over the past year, three times now, after being stuck in bad traffic (e.g. more than 1hr of stop start) - with the hood up - I have ended up with a really bad sore throat the next day - which lasts for 1-2 days after.
I know I had the air cabin filter changed when I got the car a year ago - plan to check it again and replace this weekend.
Been stuck much more often in similar traffic in my wife's normal family car - and never had the same sore throat experience...
Is there anything else to be done to the car to avoid this problem? or should I just carry a face mask in the car and stick it on when I get stuck?

Hood up? As in roof? Or what the Brits call the "bonnet" for some strange reason?

Yes - roof up. Sorry - forget this is American forum
Like a person wears a hood that covers their head e.g. Red Riding Hood, The Hood - Hoodie etc... etc...
Just remember we invented the lingo

Bet you will be aghast at the amount of crap the cabin filter has accumulated in that one years time. Step one, change filter.
Get some Lysol disinfectant spray, and while old filter is out, crank up heat and spray a liberal amount of spray in there. Switch the heater controls to each fan vent position, and respray each time. Do same for each position with AC on. Then install new cabin filter.
Make sure your top is up (hood in BritSpeak) while you do this, so you don't toxically fumigate your interior. Leave car to sit for a while before driving, to let the spray clear.

Go with a proper carbon filter - the OEM paper one is garbage. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004A6LATU/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3UKHP S78DO0MO&coliid=I3DAIFH99GXCLE
