Default someone slashed my top

So my apartment complex got broken into today and the prick decided to slash my top. I know I can go through insurance but I'm planning on selling my car in the future and I don't want it to say on my record that someone broke into my car, mainly for resale value.
1. How much is the OEM soft top?
2. And are there a lot of labor hours involved with the installation?
3. If I went through insurance, would my rates go up?
4. What would you guys do? If it costs too much I'll probably just go through with insurance.

Thanks

I'm going to get a new top either way. I just want my car to be in the best condition at all times.

And now that I think about it, I don't think insurance will raise anything. My complex got broken into and my manager filed a police report. So if I report it, there's no doubt about what happened.

This happened to me just over a month ago outside of my apartment building. I filed a police report and notified my insurance. You will have to pay your liability deductable (check your policy) and then get it fixed. It will not go against you on your insurance.

I would definitely put it on insurance. Earlier this year my car was broken in to with a total damage and contents claim of roughly $16,000. I just switched unsurance companies and they couldn't have cared less about about it.

Rate increases to your (and everyone else's) insurance based on your address happen on the back end if your neighborhood is notorious.

They typically want to know what YOU'VE done to put them at risk for liability.

make a claim on your insurance policy. you have a comprehensive claim- you will pay your comprehensive deductible and your insurance company will pay the rest. unless you make a lot of comprehensive claims, you rates will not be increased. insurance rates are increased if you make collision and liability claims (at fault accidents.)
good luck

Should be covered, vandalism is usually a covered peril under comprehensive coverage which I assume you have.

claim insurance.. pay your deductible....

Comp claims shouldn't increase your rates but never say never...it does happen from time to time.
