Someone please tell me about the Kumho ECSTA Supra 712's for the S2000????
They cost $300 to buy and install and last for 20,000 miles. I've read some decent reviews on tire rack, but not from S2000 owners. I don't drive me car hard and am looking for cheaper longer lasting tires. Does anyone have experiece with these tires? Any information will be helpful.
Also, I posted this same thread on the tire forum but there's no one over there today so I posted it over here to get more views. Please don't flame me about this.

I ran a set on my GTI, and I found them to have the following characteristics:
-Excellent wet traction and hydroplane resistance
-Poor dry grip- less than any other summer tire I have tried
-Very noisy at the limit (squealing)
-Very good wear characteristics
-Very inexpensive
-For some reason, I ssemed to pick up more nails with these tires than any other
Hope this helps,
-Nick

I ran a set on my 99 Civ SI, and GTI 20v hit everything right on the nose. BTW they are VERY noisy at the limits, at auto-x, they started making noise from start to finish. I would think there would be a better tire for the s2k to aclomplish what you want, but I just don't know what it would be. What about the Blizzak's (sp?), I know they are a good all season tires, but not about the characteristics past that.

they are good, and cheap... but when you go cheap, you have to expect them to not be as reliable as the S02's....
They are fine for normal driving.. but once you starting "abusing" the tires, they just break down badly...

I have about 3000 miles on a set of rears -- at 21k miles my original S02's are still kicking ...
Initially I found them to be great tires for the money.
They are noiser than the stock tires.
After burning them off a bit doing donuts and what not (hey they are really, really, really cheap) I have noticed they are now hard as rocks and while I can still use them on dry days, they are downright dangerous in the wet.

I have about 15k miles on a set and I'm very happy with them. They're cheap, they last a long time, and they give plenty of performance for the street. (For track events I put on a different set of wheels that have Victoracers.) My next set of street tires will definitely be 712s.
