some questions...
Since I can't afford a newer s2000 Im gonna buy used in the summer of 06. I figure i'll have enough cash by then (hey im only 18 give me a break) and I have some questions. Im looking for an s2k with a glass rear window and the 9krpm redline. Which years are those? I think its 01-02 or 01-03 or something like that; I just need some clarification. I'm really into s2ks now as it is even though I don't own one quite yet so I decided to join the community early. Ive got a saturn now with more stuff done to a saturn then most people have probably seen.

I did it all myself, but just want something nicer. I love my saturn because it was my first car, but I've always loved s2ks. Moving from a 6.5krpm redline to a 9 will be nice. The s2000 really fullfills my need for a raw sport machine. I would keep the saturn if I could supercharge it or turbocharge it, but it just KILLS the reliability of the car; Unlike what i've heard from the comptech kit on an s2k. Just wanted to throw in some background information before I start posting. And thanks to whoever can answer my question (9krpm+glass rear window). Thanks again and I am looking forward to this awesome community.

Glass rear windows and 9k redline, in the US that is, would be the 2002 and 2003 models. The 2000 and 2001 models can, and some have been, upgraded to the glass window. Any newer than 2003 in the US and you'll get the 2.2 L engine with the 8k redline. 9k redline is really cool but 8k isn't as bad as some folks make it out to be! The 2.2 engine, at least as far as I can tell from what I've read on this forum, tend to do a little better on fuel economy and a lot better (on average) with oil consumption. Both engines, if they've been properly maintained, are first class either way.
If I were you, I'd get the lowest mileage 2003 model I could find, staying within my financial capabilities that is!
