The first time I ever drove an S2000. I was 20, my car was in for repairs, and I needed to get to work. So my dad let me drive his. I pull out of my community making a left. I drive 20 seconds down the road, and a guy in an SUV going the other way gives me the finger and calls me an asshole. Admittedly I'm a 20 year old driving a bright yellow sports car down the road, but I was going 30 miles an hour in a 30 zone minding my own business. The fact is some people are just idiots. Oh well....

lol I'm 22 and people don't usually look at me twice.

When I had my 01 Corvette people would stare like no other... kinda mumble under their breath on how I got such a fancy car.

It is a common thing. A month ago my friend(18 years old) was driving his 350z and I was the passanger. Some dumb 25+ year old I'm sorry to use this expression but ---- white trash american pulls up next to my friend and the stop light at his crappy older generation maxima. He then proceeds to motion my friend to roll down his window. My friend does this and the guy immediately starts asking him "Who bought you that car?" in a very inapropriate tone. My friend calmly tells him "I bought it myself" and the guy asks his previous question again. My friend answers him again "I did". The light turns green and my friend goes. The guy catches up to us about 20 seconds later and waves a big black metal object at us. He then proceeds to throw a glass bottle at my friends car (luckily it hit the tire so no damage). I got pissed off, dialed 911, explain what had happened and within 2 minutes the got pulled over by 4 Rosemont police cars. The cop comes over and asks us if we want to press charges, the guy admitted to throwing the bottle, and the cops found the metal object that he was waving at us. The cop tells us that if we want to press charges, we will have to appear in court at least 2 times before this guy pays for what he did. My friend didn't like the idea of going to court for something like this so in the end we gave up and the cop impounded his car and took him to the nearest jail where he spent the night. Needless to say this guy won't be doing something like that anytime in the near future. Face it, people are jealous mothfrickin assholes. Theres not a lot of them, but there's also way too many of them. Just try to ignore them and try to be as polite as possible, and if that doesn't work, let them do what they want to do, write down their license plate numbers, call the police if it is some kind of aggressive behavior, and let the cops deal with it... they need the excercise and they're paid to protect and serve right? Don't be stupid and try to fight any of these people and stuff like that, if we wanted to, me and my friend (he's 6 foot 3 inches im 6 foot) could have told him to pull over, as stupid as he was he would have pulled over, and we could have dragged him out of his crappy car and bashed his head in. But we made the right choice because in situations like these you never know just how crazy the other person is... what if he hit one of us on the head with that black thing, or even worse, what if he had a gun and shot one of us, and finally, what if in our anger we killed him and then had to go to jail for 20 years--- the best 20 years of our life over a dumb piece of shit like that. If something like that ever happens to any of you guys, do the right thing... call the cops. It's their job, and at the end whatever happens, you made the complaint so unless there is some evidence that the guy didnt do what you say he did, then he's going to pay for it.

P.S.--- I don't suggest posting stories like this one on this board because when I posted my story ^^^^^ I got flamed left and right about how we "MUST HAVE DONE SOMETHING TO PROVOKE THE GUY"...

In Los Angeles this does not happen. No one would notice you or pay any attention to you. They're too busy looking at the 23 year old driving an Ferrari in front of you. Even that guy gets off the hook because they just assume he must be a television star or a movie executive or something.

In LA you would have a hard time finding anyone who might look twice at an S2000. Only an oddball with a special affinity for Hondas, or a geeky 12 year old who have been playing too much GT4 would bother to look at an S2000.

I'm not complaining... I like it that way.

I totally agree with you, people do look at and act weird around me. I am 23, and the first hour I had my car I had this lifted gmc suv thing from the 80s with big wheels stare me down and try to race me. I looked at him, laughed and said "not worth my gas"

An hour later (I was driving around for hours... love my car) these two middle aged white men in business suits in a land rover were next to me at a stop light and looked at me, puzzled, and smirked. They probably thought my parents bought it for me.

Just yesterday, this redneck in a teal green Ford Ranger cut me off in traffic, slowed down just as he got in front of me, and flicked me off. This was for NO apparant reason. I just flashed him with my brights and revved a little. I was not provoking him before he cut me off whatsoever, he probably just saw me and wanted to mess with me because he's jealous he has an ugly teal ranger and the fact that I'm not a redneck may also have something to do with it too! I don't understand people.

I also get weird glares from the "ghetto looking thugs" with denalis and escalades with oversized chrome wheels. They probably think I sell drugs.

I am 23, but I look younger. I have stretched earlobes, and listen metal/hardcore music in my car. I look like I'm 18. I don't care though, they're just jealous that their wife makes them drive their lame cars and wish they were as young as us and had a nice sports car. Don't sweat them and just be safe, have fun, and do your thing.

I bought this car with my money and struggle to make monthly payments and insurance but ITS WORTH it
No offense, but how is it worth it?

I don't think anyone should have to struggle to own anything.

There are people who will hate you just for waking up each day. Don't worry so much what people think.

I frequently drive a 2002 Lexus SC430 and I'm 20 years old. I find that as long as I drive defensively and don't bother anyone there are no problems. As long as you don't look at people to see if they're looking at you, no one will say anything. Oh, and of course the shallow pretty girls will say things.

Cliff Notes: Keep to yourself. Don't tell people they're not "worth your gas". Don't provoke anything even if provoked. Eyes ahead, matey.
