Soft top latches coming loose...
Hi,
I just purchased an 02 S2000 -- and maybe I'm doing something wrong, but my passenger side latch tends to come undone when I hit a few bumps. It's very annoying and alittle scary.
Am I latching it incorrectly? My procedure is as follows:
1) E-brake up
2) Hit the switch
3) Grab the top and help guide it down
4) Press button on the side
5) Click the hook in and secure the latch handles.
I don't actually feel very secure about the latche handles as they seem to be very loose...is it broken?
Thanks for the help,

As long as your securing the latch handles, I would expect the latch to stay closed.
I'm assuming your doing the same procedure for the drivers and passenger side. Since you've indicated that it's just the passenger side that's the issue, I would rule out operator error.
The Honda dealer would be my next stop
Good luck

I just found a couple of threads, and they were complaining of the same problem. Looks like the latch catch is plastic? Maybe mine is broken and I didn't know it.
Is there any kind of "click" to indicate that it's secure?

I have lost the little phillips head screws that hold the side button relase things in place and I constantly have to re tighten those when i feel the button get sloppy.

Now you have to look a the striker on the windshield. Is it scewed in tight? If not, then you need to take apart the trim and re-install the screws with Loctite. If the striker is solid, you may need new heavy duty striker plates.

Actually, I just checked and I can unlatch & relatch it without having to press on the button. I guess it's broken then?
Thanks for all the help guys.
