Default So i took the S to the dragstrip for the 1st time.

good news... got S home just fine... taking everyone's suggestion revved her high and wide and dropped that mofo like its goin outta style... no... but launched between 5500 and 6800... learned how hard it is to hold this car at those revs ... so i was fluctuating... as people were suggesting, i was spinning the wheels to take the load off the rear end... she spinned like there was no tomorrow... spinned so much there was ZERO bog... no thumps from the differential... no clutch burning... nothing... clean take off...

bad news... it took a while for her to take off... best time of 15.0...

musta spinned for what seemed like forever.. thought i was gonna hit the guy workin the light tree...

but the guys i was with said the track had worse traction than some streets they were on... plus... my 1st time at a dragstrip with an S... plus...on each run i was feathering the throttle better and better on the launch and got 4 successively better runs ending with the 15.0... so i think with more track time, i can easily shave another 0.5 seconds off that... we'll see....

A lot depends on the track, maybe next time it will be in better condition.

thats real slow...
you should be in the low 14 if the conditions are good
better luck next time
PS try going for a 5k rpm clutch drop i do that if traction is not good

With a slow take off like leaving from a stoplight you should at least be getting high 14's. Shift at redline and shift fast. practice practice practice. My best 1/4 mile in the S2000 was a 14.1 when dropping the clutch at 7000rpm's. With a smooth featherd takeoff I'd usually get 14.4-14.5. practice practice practice Iceman gimmee a ring sometime and I'll show you how to drive that badboy without beating it up.

S2000 are not drag cars. They are more track and autoX.

I have zero desire to drag race my '05 S2000 after owning a low 12 second C5.

I am much more interested in autocrossing and doing track days with the S2000.

Maybe warming up the tires a bit too would help lower those times.
