So how much does having the top down affect times in racing?
I notice in alot of posts, members mention having the top down is hurting aerodynamics. How much can you get hurt by this? Say in 0-60 or 1/4 miles. In a freeway run against a Z or something will this affect you much? If I do a freeway run against a similar car I want everything in my favor. Most of the time owners are crusing on the freeway top down when an unsuspecting victim approaches. Obviously you can't put the top down, but can this cause a race to be lost....

In 0-60 and 1/4 mile times, it probably doesn't have much effect.
However, on the front straight of Texas World Speedway it lowers my top speed (normally in the high 120's) by about 10mph, which is quite significant for lap times.

I know it hurts the CD, but why in all the best motoring videos the top is always down? Sometimes Gan San would say he wished the top was up to aid him on the straightaways. Then why don't they put it up?!

Having the top down affects your times even as low as 60mph and definitely with
a 1/4-mile run. As speed increases, the drag created by the lowered top increases. To think that there is some magic number of miles per hour in which having the top down just STARTS to become drag-inducing would also imply that having both doors wide open (as long as you're not doing 100 mph) wouldn't really slow you down either.
It slows you down fellas. Trust me. I've got Tazzo runs to prove it.
As much as two car lengths to speeds over 100 (about .2 of a second).
