So.. I got caught in a nasty freak blizzard last night on my way home from work. The day started out sunny and bright, but quickly degraded. I drove home (about 35 miles) in some of the worst conditions I have driven in. I made it to almost within sight of my house when the tail end decided to step around (due to a 250' long patch of black ice). I fought to recover it, and I finally did, but my momentum was carrying me towards the shoulder. I hit a sign post and cracked the front bumper cover up. NO other damage whatsoever. DAMN lucky I was only going about 20 mph at the time I started sliding, and scrubbed off more speed as I slid towards the edge of the road. I walked home, got my all-wheel-drive V6 VW Passat, a tow strap, and pulled myself out... and drove both cars home.

It sucks to see my baby like this. Time for a new front bumpercover. Body shop wont be able to get it in until the 23rd.

Stock 04 bumper, or is there a TASTEFUL aftermarket one available?

Not sure what has been developed for the '04s yet. I know SPA is hard to match, I suspect RIO is going to be just as hard.

Are you still on the stock tires? The S02's that came stock on the MY '00-'03 cars are HORRIBLE in snow. It could be that a set of snow tires would be a good investment for you.

I really like the new '04 Amuse R1 bumper cover, seen here: http://www.bulletproofautomotive.com/catal...ail.php?ID=1757

IMO it looks less awkward than the stock '04 one.

I'm glad that there wasn't any major damage ... and I'm happy to hear that you were driving carefully. I would also like to point out that yes, new tires may be a good investment to avoid future mishaps.

Wow... that Amuse lip is quite nice! I love it on that pearl white...

Sorry to hear that. Glad you are OK and no other damage. All the best in getting her put back to new.

It sucks to have your new car damaged. Someone rolled into the back of my two-week old CL-S at a stop light a couple of years ago.
