Default Snow Emergency

I drove to work today to prove to everyone that my S2000 with winter tires is just as capable of making it through a couple inches of snow as an SUV or FWD sedan. I was proven right - I had 0 problems getting to work. However, the snow kept coming... harder than anyone really expected... and I ended up leaving after only an hour or so in the office. On my way home, I saw very few cars... and then I looked up to the digital sign overhanging the freeway

'LEVEL 3 SNOW EMERGENCY - EMERGENCY VEHICLES ONLY'

or something to that effect. That was at about the halfway point of my drive home. So basically, long story short, I've now officially driven a honda S2000 - no traction control - through a level 3 snow emergency.

Anyone else in the club with me?

I've driven through a tropical storm, and an approaching hurricane. Sorry, no snow...

Happy anniversary! I think that we are still in a level 2 in Columbus.

The S2000 is at home though. Drove the GTI.

I drove the S through ice covered roads today. When I was pulling out onto the road there were these dogs going for their morning walk, they kept slipping and falling.

I saw a couple people fall on the sidewalks on the way to work today. As well as kids ice skating on the street.

My conclusion is:
S2000 (Yoko all-seasons) on ice is > Dogs on ice

Well, of course! The dogs have more torque than our engine at low rpms...

I've driven through some pretty dastardly weather as well, including unplowed Northern Ontario (Canada) roads with 10-12 inches of snow on them. Aside from the snowplow effect it always did just fine.

Good story though!!

If we move to West Virginia I guess I'll be storing the S2000 in the winter. Not because it's unsafe, because it's not. I just don't want to expose the car to the road salt. That's what the Lexus is for.

LOL, dog's may have more RLT (Rear Leg Torque) than our cars have flywheel torque, but they lack our gearing.
