The 351 Cleveland didn't exist in 1956. Could you mean the Ford 352 FE motor perhaps?
*351 Cleveland (approx 500 hp)
*Toploader 4-speed (from a 428 Cobra Jet) w/V-gate shifter
*4 link rear suspension with 9" posi-rear.
*Tilt frontend
*Tilt bed
*etc...
Runs in the low to mid 10's in the 1/4 mile. Hard to get traction.

Another place to see lots of real Cobras is the Monterey Historic races in August (or any other historic racing event). I travel out to the Bay Area every year for this event as well as the other events of the that week/weekend. It is pure automotive heaven. Can't wait until August!!

The AutoCraft Cobras were the best of the breed if I remember correctly. The bodies were made of aluminum from the original body bucks at the AC Factory. They were sold and waranteed through the Ford Dealers in the early 80s. I think they were the only replicas accepted into the Cobra registry.
I rode in one that had a Jack Rousch 351 cleavland in it and it was pretty impressive.

I mentioned the Monterey Historics because malachi is from San Fran.
The event/weekend is the best there is in the automotive world and you really owe it to yourself to attend the weekend if you consider yourself a carnut. Upon attending all other automotive events you will ever attend will not even come close. It is truely a special weekend.

Gentleman,
I loved my Shelby dearly - let it rest in peace. It went to where most Fords go - Car Heaven.
I assure you if it were here today, it would have S2000 for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is no doubt in my mind.
