What about putting in a small turbo that runs from 2-6krpms then gets bypassed for the top end?

Just thinking out loud.

Frankly, I think that the S2K has ample power at the top end. It will be interesting to see the power curve of a roots-type SC if one ever comes out. That should improve power above 2k RPM and won't add a lot at the top. Jackson Racing is rumored to be developing one, but who knows when we'll see a prototype?

for the costs of building a custom exhaust manifold, downpipe, messing with fuel and ignition, injectors, etc, etc, why bother. At this point you have a few thousand invested in a kit that will not even change max hp. If you go this far, then just build a turbo kit that increases power all the way to 10,000rpm.

Sorry to be so blunt, but unless you have some way of doing this for under $3000 in parts it really makes no sense.

btw, the Jackson Racing SC is so far off that it shouldnt even be considered at this time.

I spoke with JR at SEMA and they have not even decided to attempt the kit. They have a S2000 and were simply considering. Everyone seems to be considering something or another, but JR in particular is notoriously slow for building/designing kits. Look at how long it took for the H22a SC to come out, and there were no doubts about building that one from the start.

how about a small supercharger for less than a grand? One that pushes down low, and gets out of the way up top?? Thats more what I was thinking.

Krazik,
I am sure many owners would like to shift the factory max torque to the 4k rpm level and than keep it (flat curve) to the max rpm (9100rpm). This also should not present a reliability problem with the drive train.
My STOOK is now in hibernation, but come spring I would like consider several ideas. Keep pluging away, surely someone will comeup with such an upgrade which is not strictly for racing ...

Does anyone enjoy the car for what it is now? Everyone seems to think they can improve upon what is arguably a remarkable engineering achievement. 120hp/liter is unheard of; hell, the Porsche Turbo puts out only 115 hp + per liter. What more could you ask from a reliable, well-performing 4-cylinder engine?

i've thought of it too, but i was thinking more along the lines of an added motor assist directly to the drivetrain. more of a hybrid power rather than an added power solution.
