ok little clearing up. I did work the clutch on the lauch but had left a small kiss of rubber on the road. A normal start for me is at idle with a touch of gas. So any thing over 2k and starting will include a bit of working the clutch to get the car moving swiftly and with min leaving rubber. I changed gears with min clutch action (in and out as fast as I could) and this is when the sliping started and continued. I did Start in a more aggessice manor then I would have in my normal driving. This is why I called it a dump.

ok hoooooooold on a second here?? Whats this talk about not being able to really dump into these s2000 clutches without putting too much stress on the drivetrain? Damn... I have been thinking hard about buying one of these cars, but damn, are these some crapola cars or something? A sports car drivetrain should be able to take any amount of abuse you put on it, specially if the car is stock...

I drive my sports cars like they should be driven, like a sports car. I dump the shit outta the clutch and let the tires smoke sometimes just cus its fun, and I dont expect some kind of pussy delay in the clutch gripping. If these s2000's are that junky then im gonna have to think twice about getting one...

Tex,

If you end up buying an 03 valve, go to Hardtopguy.com

He recently added these because of the interest. I replaced the valve with the 03 in my last S (MY04), but decided to modify it in my current S (MY05). The mod saves you $50, but is definitely a pain in the ass. However, if your dealer looks underneath for any reason, the car appears stock and unmodified. With the 03 valve, they might have reason to be bitchy if something with the drivetrain went wrong.

I recently modified my slave cylinder on my '05 and it was a PITA to remove the snap ring BECAUSE I didn't have good enough picks laying around. After realizing that, I went to my local NAPA and picked up a good quality automotive "hook and pick set" for like $7 and removed the ring without any issues at all. A LOT easier.
I bought a hook and pin set from Sears (craftsman). The tips all broke off and and I never was able to get the clip out (on my brother's S). I let a local sponsor monkey around with mine with the hooks and it took him a while. I think there's just a technique that I'm missing or not seeing when I do it.

Not sure if the following link will work:

http://www.napaonline.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...41&prmenbr=5806

Part #: SER3121 is what I purchased and used.

I almost went to Sears myself to get one of their hook and pick sets, but NAPA is closer for me.
