To protect my steering wheel I use a leather wipe that is practically dry after using it on the seats and then I give the wheel a good buffing with a cotton towel to remove any excess. This is just enough to keep it looking good but never getting slippery.

I just put some Duragloss Leather conditioner. That seems to work great. Thanks to all for their advice.

this is what I use. Armor All Leather Wipes work great. they also seem to help hide the inadvertant scratches I have put on my leather too.
