I don't claim to be an expert but the blending pumps (single hose) adjust the nl/prem ratio just inside the cover from where you stand. The most fuel you could receive from the guy before is what is in the length of hose you see plus a few inches. Not much fuel unless your filling up a very small container of 1/2 gallon or so.

So lets assume a 10' hose stays half full of "inferior gas" (since 5' loops upwards and 5' loops downward and will have leaked out already). If the diameter of the hose is 1/2", the volume of gas left in the hose will be what...like 120ml? SO thats about 1/8th of a gallon.
At 1/8th of a gallon of 87 octane on a 10 gallon fill up is just over 1% of the fill up. I dont see how that should affect performance. I am sure someone else can do the math. (and feel free to correct me if Iam off too much) So no, I dont think we are getting screwed...

I guess I dont think too much about these things and just enjoy getting back out to drive. So my advice if to stop worrying about this and get back on the road to enjoy the car!

Actually, I'd worry more about whether or not the right stuff was put in the big tank. Think about it, if they watered down the octane, who's gonna go through the trouble of proving it and taking someone to court over 50 cents.

If the hose thing bothers you, don't do fill-ups unless your tank is less than half full. The small amount of low-octane will be so dilute it won't matter.

Yea, crap happened to me.

I was putting gas into my bike, and there was residual fuel. Well, it came it without me evening pulling on the lever and got all over my bike

i always thought that 3 types (reg, mid, prem) has three seperate hoses within the one single hose. anyone ever notice if the single hose pumps have larger diameter hoses? this would cause the amount of residual fuel to be microscopic....
