My tube of the shin etsu (sp) seems like it will last for a good 20 years.

Isn't Shin-Etsu 100% silicon grease? I would use what ever product as long as the only thing in it was silicon and nothing else...
The original question was if "silicone spray" would be as good. Nothing was asked about "silicone grease". I agree that silicone grease would work also.

For your rubber seals, to prevent them from drying out and/or squeaking.

I don't buy that any silicone grease would work just as well. The term "silicone grease" covers an awfully wide range of polymers that happen to contain silicon in a carbon chain. I use a varietu of silicone products at work that have widely differing properties.

100% silicon grease is 100% silicon grease. Industrial greases will be slightly different, but the tub you buy at the hardware store will be the same at all of them. We're talking about a ambient temperature rubber seal not a high pressure, high temperature gasket. It's just like cleaning all the chassis boots and mounts. Any name brand silicon product will work.

Before you try to substitute Shin-Etsu grease with silicone spray or something else just remember that it's the only grease/lubricant left that American Honda has to bring in from Japan because they themselves have not found a locally produced product that is a worthy replacement.
Not saying silicone grease won't work but for whatever reason it doesn't hold up or work as good as Shin-Etsu so you may have to apply it more often.
