Side strakes coming off

Side strakes coming off
I have a 01 that I ordered with the side strakes. I have twice now had them come loose. It seems the "christmas tree thing is not reliable. I am considering removing the strakes but will have to deal with the darn installation holes. Any suggestions or products you know of other than body filler? Thanks.

Holy cow! Are you really in NE??
I am too! welcome to the site
A far as the strakes go, it seems to be slightly common problem. I think I recall someone using an adhesive tape for body kits to hold them on. We might need to do some searching.
pm me if you like

I just installed a set. I lined the upper curved portion just inside the edge with double sided tape and it seems to hold the strakes on decently. If you want to attempt to re-install them, this is what I would recommend. However, if you are fed up with it, you can take all of it off, fill in the hidden holes with silicone seal. Now, the two exposed holes, you can go to a body shop and have them fill it and paint that whole section. If you want a cheaper route, get two of those plastic button push pins that hold your center console carpet to the console tunnel. They are a bluish grey in color. They don't cost much. When you get them, scuff them up well with sandpaper, prime them and paint them the same color as your car. Then you can silicone seal them in the holes. They won't look any more out of place than like what you'll see on the sides of the last gen of BMW 325/328 series.

xviper, do you have any idea if the Comptech side skirts would cover those holes up? It's another idea (though somewhat costly) and they are subtle and classy.

It may not. The Comptech may not come up high enough. She would have to take some measurements to be sure.

Funny you should post that pic.
I have the BFGoodrich Spa Yellow Comptech S2k poster in my garage (framed of course ) and when I went out there to finish off some Zaino, I was staring at the pic trying to see if it would cover the holes.

If side strakes were a good idea, don't you think Honda could have afforded them on the concept car? I do.
