I do the same hood procedure as Fito.
And it works the first try most of the time.

Mine closes with no problem. Yea, it was hard to work up the guts to do it the first couple of times, but now it's a no-brainer and it closes every single time. I have noticed that Jason has to drop his a couple of times each time he closes his hood. I'm going to ask him next time I talk to him about his thoughts on that.

Mine sounds very solid and closes with a very noticeable BOOM.

I have found that if you hold it about waist high with your fingers under the hood and your palm facing up. use your fingers and 'toss' the hood up and pull fingers out of the way.

latches every time for me

I was at the Detroit auto show yesterday. I wanted to close the S2k's hood to show a friend the car. It would not close no matter how high I dropped it; maybe, that explains the dents in it (from other's trying the old fashion way). Appears to be a pain in butt.

My last 3 cars have been Hondas. I've always dropped the hood from chest high and have never had any problems. A little noisy, but that's about it.

Do I sense a demand for an aftermarket STEEL hood?

Maybe with one of those letterbox air intakes an' all.

Mingster?

Had the same problem. Y2K++S2K has it right. I just turned the two rubber stops about 1/2 turn clockwise. Now it closes from about 15".

I can drop mine from about 6" and it latches every time. But one of the first things I did hwen the car arrived was adjust the latch (it was not closing evenly).
