I hate the fact that you have to drop the hood from chest height (or so) just to have it close. Every other Honda I have owned (more then 5 in the last few years) you could simply lower the hood againt the striker and push it closed...but I Hear doing so with this hood will dent it...not going to try

Last night I was showing off my lovely engine to a few pals and I had to drop the damn hood three times (from chest height) before it finally closed. Kinda embarassing on a 30K+ vehicle. Any one out there come up with a better way of shutting the hood? The damn dealer probably drops it from 4 feet!

Well thats my rant...The car is still the coolest thing there is.

Well that is a draw back for having an all aluminum hood. But in return, we save lots of weight from not having a conventional hood. Win some lose some right.

Argetni - How tall are you? If you are "vertically challenged" you may need to drop the hood from your chin!

What I do is insted of leting it drop from 3 feet high, I take it from around 1 feet high and throw it downward. (I rise it a little and the throw it with a little pressure.

Take it to your dealer and have them adjust the latch. I have never had a problem with mine closing from waist high and I am just under 6'. Worth a try before something gets bent.

Take a pair of plyers and tighten the little rubber hood bumpers near the latch. I had the same problem and can now close the hood with a one foot drop.

Mine used to need a 2-foot drop or more and often failed to latch, just as you described. However, it's gotten better with time, and now it locks with a 12-inch drop every time.

This may be typical, or maybe I just got lucky.

Lucky or not, I've always been able to close the hood from a 12" drop, no adjustments necesary. That makes quite a lot of noise - I can't imagine a three foot drop not working. Definitely something can't be right.

I really like the way the hood closes. I drop it from about 15" and it latches perfectly every time. In comparison, my Integra's hood and my GF's Civic hood feel VERY heavy
