Should I worry about hydro-lock with AEM CAI?
I am not sure if I want to change from the RM HAI to the AEM CAI due to the fact that it might suck in water. Let me know what you think or if you ever heard of this with this intake.
Thanks

revhard,
1. In 2001, how many times has it flooded in your area where the water level on the streets you normally drive on exceeded 1 foot deep? If the number is pretty high...you have no business with the AEM intake; or at least get the bypass vavle.
2. If you are the type of person who will try to drive through pretty deep water in the S2000; you better not get the AEM, and you are probably a moron.
All through 2001 in Houston, I remember it flooding enormously this one week in the whole year. Smart persons probably did not drive their S2000's that week. I would not go out in any regular vehicle other than a SUV or some high ass truck.

I had the AEM CAI on my Integra as well. The only time I ever saw a problem was driving through a VERY deep puddle that I couldn't even see. The downpour was tremendous and it killed the engine.
But just that - killed it. I was able to safely pull off the road and gave it about 15 minutes then tried starting it again. Everything was fine and I never had residual problems. 32k with the AEM and that was the only incident.
Was I lucky? I guess so. How much water got pulled up? I don't know. I'm guessing that to blow the engine I would have needed a lot more water.
