Not worth the trouble for a drive of that length. That blue painters tape is expensive! Just avoid tailgating people.

 

My car is 8 years old and people are always in awe of my paint's condition. However, it does have 43K on the clock, and keeping the paint pristine is just impossible in the real world. I park at the back of all lots, I never drive behind trucks, I keep my distance, everything I can to avoid damage, and my front end is still chipped to hell, just part of the game. Enjoy the car, and when the time comes, give the front clip a fresh coat.

I learned a long time ago that it doesn't matter how careful you are. You can be Mr. Surgical for 6 years, keeping flawless paint, then you park under a tree, a branch falls, and scratches your car up. There are just too many things out of your control to worry so much. Do your best, but don't go nuts.
