Default Should I ditch the subwoofer enclosure?

I have a subwoofer enclosure with only one sub. But I kinda wanna get rid of it due to too much rattling and I wanna make my car a little lighter. Is it worth the weight to still keep the sub in the trunk? How many of you recommend having this or not? I wanna keep my cd deck though.

I never really understood why peeps put subs in their cars. It creates a lot of rattling, nearby peeps get annoyed, you can't hear anyone in the car, it ruins the song, it adds weight, it costs $.

Speaking of subs, the other day, I was waiting for my friend in a parking lot and from a distance, I heard a deep bass going on. It sounded horrible as there was rattling that followed. Soon after, a busted up Camry shows up. I could actually see the car itself rattling. I'm sure that wouldn't be too comfortable for the driver. get rid of the sub.

I've had subs in both my 944 and my Prelude, really just depends on what you use your car for the most. For me I was driving to and from school 10 hours for holidays. To me having a good sound system was a must; but keep in mind I am also an audiophile currently with a 13.3 speaker system hooked up to my computer. As far as the weight, I had my amp mounted to the subwoofer box so I could just disconnect a few wires and pull the whole thing out in 2 minutes.

So if your S is a daily driver, and you enjoy deep powerful bass (and you can make it sound quite good, not like the guys who spend bare minimum at circuit city and don't do anything to the trunk) then I'd say keep it if you like it. If your car is a weekend warrior and you race it, then take it out and empty your windshield washer reservoir.

Well, I will never understand why someone would want to put 20 inch rims on an old hoopty.
To each his own I guess.

I believe a good sounding system enhances the driving experiance to another level. There is nothing like your favorite driving song coming on and sounding great. Its all what floats your boat everyone is different. To me I like good sounding tunes over the 45 pounds you will save.

I love my sub. I had one in my S, too. It didn't take up any room and sounded great. It wasn't an obnoxious booming bass that you could hear from 5 blocks away. In fact, you could hardly hear it outside of the car. It definately added to the music enjoyment, though.

I usually listen to mostly underground hip-hop (more mellow, not gangsta. i.e. Pete Rock), so a good bass is a must for me.

my solution to remedy the extra weight was to take out my entire soft top assembly
