Default Should I buy 2008 CR or Base?

Hey guys, I am planning to purchase 2008 s2000 soon but I just dont know if i should go with cr or base.
Now I like CR because of the nice interior, best suspension setup compare to anything thats out there for s2000, and the color apex blue but the downside about CR is that I will not be able to put the top down or up whenever I want to. It will be either leave the house with or without the top and second thing is that I will be afraid to park my car without the top because what if someone vandalize my car since the top is missing... I would like to see what other people think.

To be honest, I lock all my personal items in the trunk or glove box anyway since what the thieves want is just a knike slash away. So a word of advice, don't really put anything too important in the car either way (cr or base) and if there is something large put it in your trunk.
I don't think I would let the whole top off thing deter me other than the weather issue for this simple reason.

P.S. HiPer....I love Misa Campo too

Personally it comes down to you, drive them both. See what you prefer. In your situation, if I could shell out the dough and have weather that was perfect every day, I would have gotten the CR.

Just to play devils advocate, I saw a thread the other day where a guy got an 07 with like 12 miles on it for 27k. So you might have to drive for it, but bitching deals are out there. But if money were no object, and in you situation, IMO I would purchase a CR.

I think you more or less answered your own question. If you are more worried about the top issue, go with the base 08. Besides, a few minor suspension and chassis stiffening mods to a base S will be a better handling S than the CR.

Is this just a weekend fun car? Or is it a daily driver?

If it''s only coming out for drives and returning to the garage at night, the CR is awfully tempting. If it's going to be left out a lot, having a soft top is a nice convenience. I wouldn't be too concerned about theft (just as easy to cut the softtop while causing more damage); leave your windows up so people can't just easily reach in. The softtop does help prevent random crap falling into your car if you leave it out though.

If you're a big baller - just buy the CR and have a softtop installed - in essence making a USDM Type S. You could sell the CR cover on here and put it towards a softtop setup - and I've seen complete setups, motors, frame, top on here before. I don't know how much it would run to have a dealer do it but money talks. Best of both worlds.
