shipping an an S2000 from Japan to the UK
I don't suppose anyone out there has ever bought a car in from Japan to the UK? I live in Japan but will be relocated to the UK in early 2006, was wondering If anyone had done this and could offer some advice or tips in the best way to go about it without having to pay a small fortune.

If you remember, about 15-20 years ago the Japanese were sending thousands of used cars to Ireland and the UK, as they were finding it too expensive to keep them in Japan, based on the cost of the annual inspection over there.
I think they had to make a few simple changes, such as relocating side mirrors, etc, none of which should be a problem for the S.
Your MOT department in the UK should be able to tell you everything you need to know about doing this.

My advice to you is to contact a freight fowarder to arrange the move for you. Also, ask them if it possible to use a ro/ro service instead of a container. (ro/ro= roll on roll off. pretty much someone drives the car into the vessel, and drives it off at destination) ro/ro services is a lot cheaper than a container. Only trouble is ro/ro services are only available in base ports. Japan's base ports usually are, tokyo, osaka, kobe.
