Has anyone tried shipping their S2000 to the Philippines?? I have already filed an inquiry with customs and they mentioned that taxes would be PHP 800,000 ($19,500) on my 2007 S2000 with 11K miles on it. I am just not sure what else I should be looking at when I ship my car from Boston, MA to Manila.
You must be able to get away with paying $19k in duties. Can't you pay people off? Can't you have the car dissassembled as parts and put back together again to avoid paying duties? How about hooking up with a philippine diplomat that can get in through?

Yeah we actually have higher octane ratings that the US. Below are the ratings for different product lines available..

93 Octane: Shell Unleaded and Premium, Caltex Vortex Silver and Petron Unleaded
95 Octane: Shell Velocity, Caltex Vortex Gold, Petron XCS and Total Fuels
97 Octane: Petron Blaze
Octane ratings vary by country.

USA and Canada use (R+M)/2

whereas most of Europe use the R - value (RON)

91 octane in the USA ~ 95-97 octane in EUROPE

just a heads up

Well I'm sure you'd be like a celebrity with a car like that over there.

Smuggle it.

Check out sites like this:

I'm sure they can tell you what paperwork you need.
Thanks! I will give them a call and see if it's not too much of a hassle..

If i were able to find a Philippine diplomat to bring a car in tax-free I would rather bring home a Z4M! Those things are selling 10K below MSRP here in Boston.. Yeah you could pay people off, but I don't think its worth all the hassle and the risk involved.

I was lucky to get my car into Korea without having to pay import fees and taxes. One thing you will have to set up is how to get parts. The local honda dealer here is nice enough but it takes months to get parts. Easier for them to ship directly, where I don't have to pay customs fees. Check if you need to pay customs fees on imported car parts.
