Default shipping my motor

Didn't exactly know where to post this so please move it to the nexessary forum if need be.

I need to ship my motor from the Atlanta, GA area to Laskey racing in CA.

What is the best way to approach this? I purchased a new pallet and am wondering the best way to secure it to that, and would also like info on who to use to ship it that far. The transmission is removed and the head is off. I will be sending the head separately. Thanks in advance.

Im sorry to get off topic, and no offense to Laskey racing....but arent their competent machine shops in Georgia, that could do the same job, but spare the hundreds of dollars in shipping costs?

It seems a bit ridiculous to me...

Good luck either way

nah I have a very very small score on cylinder 4 and need it bored and sleeved. Laskey uses benson which is tried and true. Its for a very high hp build so I prefer it be built by people who know what they are doing.

Mount it to some 4X4s and put a 1/2 plywood on the skid then bolt it to the skid. Then build a crate over it,Make the whole thing as strong as possible cuz it will vibrate all the way to Cali and if it comes apart your screwed. And don't think its insured cuz trucking insurance sucks.

Yeah, I was going to post the same thing.

I have shipped two block to them this way, works great. Also since the box is smaller (then a pallet) the cost is lower.

not a bad idea. The difference is its not just the block. Oil pan is stayin on. I will be taking the clutch and flywheel off but thats about the extent of it. I don't know to many boxes that will support 150 pounds with raw steel nipping away at them in transit.

What the hell do you mean by "not a bad idea"? These are the instructions from THE shop you are sending it to. FOLLOW THE F'N INSTRUCTIONS.
