Default Shin Etsu Grease Vs Dielectric Grease

Hope I'm in the right forum. I'm expecting to get my mugen replica hardtop from spyder soon, but heard that everyone is using "Shin Etsu" grease which is more or less a silicone grease used to quiet rubber seals. I know for my del sol, someone recommended to use "dielectric" grease to do the same, quiet the seals for the targa (made of silicone as well). Is it wrong to substitute this since I already have the dielectric grease handy? Or will it screw something up?

Some say they use dielectric grease and it works just as well, others argue that the shin etsu is formulated slightly differently and is better for preserving rubber seals. I paid about $15 on ebay for the shin etsu and I expect that it is the only tube I'll ever need to buy as a small amount goes a long way. Why gamble with the life of expensive hardtop seals when a tube of shin etsu will last the life of the car?
