any way to prevent the ap2 shift boot from sagging? ive seen shiftboots on cars that have collars on the shifter? any option like that on ap2s?

you have to lift up your center console and ziptie or use a rubberband to strap the neck where it touches the shifter...can someone chime in and confirm...ive done it...

Ive seen people use the little grommet from a water hose.

Steps.

1. Remove shift knob and lock nut
2. Remove the center console. Its held in by clips so gingerly pry it off.
3. Disconnect the top and flasher plugs and completly remove console.
4. Take grommet and push it around the shifter.
5. Reinstall in reverse order.

It should be that simple

My ap1 boot wasn't saggy but my ap2 boot on my new console is. I too wonder what gives? I can take the boot from my old console i guess

Remove the shift knob, get 2 water hose washer's, thread em over the
stick shift and down into the boot. Problem solved.

dont the ap1 shift boots have that ring around the top to go around the shaft? im looking for something like that.

im talking about something like this:




maybe a fix like that?

ap1 shift boots do not have that ring

try using the washer or a ziptie to keep it from sagging

I punched out my own rubber circle to put in there and it works like a charm. I even made a few extra and gave them to other S2KI members at local meets. Working at a hose & rubber shop comes in handy from time to time.
