shift knob.

Yup, back off that locking nut first and it should spin right off. When i upgraded my 00 knob for an 02 leather knob, I found it VERY, very difficult to remove even after the locking nut was loose. As it turned out, there was a bunch of RUST on the threads when I finally forced it free - weird. I have no idea how that area could have gotten exposed to rusting, but it was.
So, loosening that nut may not be enough. Just make sure you are twisting in the correct direction!

Also remember if you are replacing with a countersunk knob that the locking nut will not be used with it.
