Mine told me to leave the top up for 24 hours.

Are there some glues they are using in standard top replacement that need time to cure?

Well yes, it makes sense to leave the top up if there's any type of glue that needs to set, but nothing's glued when the top is fully replaced...

i did reinforcement patches on my previous top myself... the glue required a drying time of 24-48 hours... but as best i know, there was no glue used for my replacement top whatsoever... and i can't imagine a glue for this application that will take 168 hours to dry...

Another thing... The guy at the convertible shop i took my car to, told me that the top is made by the same convertible manufacturer as the miata's. He said that he thinks its only a matter of time before the price comes down considerably on our tops... He said that essentially, the frame and the fabric itself is the same, only the sizing is different..
anyone heard of this before?

That is what I was thinking too. No glue - no need to wait.

Just do it!

I suggest waiting the week the dealership says, and then trying it. That way if someting goes wrong the dealership can't blame you for it

It's only a short time. What harm can it do to wait. Just do what the guy said. Doesn't matter if he's wrong. It won't hurt anything and who knows, maybe there's something to it.

FYI, I just took my HT off today after it has been on for the last 6+ months. Not trouble closing the soft top at all.

I had my top and plastic window replaced a while back and they told me the exact same thing about leaving it up for a week to stretch. I dont think it was bs.
