I do that sometimes... when going down the highway, it definitely helps lessen the amount of wind turbulence.

And with regards to having your top down whenever it's nice out, my S2K is a daily driver, and often times, if it's just a quick 5 minute drive somewhere, I'm not gonna bother putting it down. It's not that it's a hassle to put up and down, I actually just worry about the wear and tear on the convertible mechanism if I'm putting it up and down a coupla times a day.

I completely agree. When it's colder and I'm going above 60 MPH I love to have the top down to feel the sun, but I put my windows up to keep out the breeze. The heater in cranked and I'm still enjoying the drive. The other morning in was 36 degree's onthe way to work, yet I had the top down!! I also won't put the top down if I'm going from one parking lot tothe next- I refuse to leaveit parked anywhere with the top down, too many thieves in the world who won't hesitate to steal anything he/ she can reach in a vehicle.

Have to agree with gomarlins2 - last night I went for a drive - it was about 40 degrees, but the stars were out, and I just had to have the top down. Leaving the side windows up was the only real option to keep from freezing. Around Cleveland in March, you're going to get funny looks driving with the top down - a little more weirdness won't hurt.

Dallas was around freezing a bit back. It was sunny, so I put the top down. A guy in a Dodge truck asked "Aren't you cold with your top down?"

Simple reply was "That's what the heater is for"

Best heater I've ever had in a car... and I like the convertible "crotch setting" of the AC. Keeps the nether regions nice and warm.

Back to Z3's and lexuses. I think owners of those cars don't put the top down because they don't want their rugs or what little hair they have blowing away.

I finally saw an SC430 with the top down and it changed my opinion of the car. It still looked kind of rounded but sharp at the same time. Very nice, actually.

Come to think of it, not sure I've ever seen an SLK230/320 with the top down.

May be something about retractable hardtops makes owners forget that they have a convertible.

Why is it that people buy convertibles only to leave the windows up when the top is down? I have t-tops on my car and I ensure the windows stay down (even with passengers) by locking the windows.

IMO, if drivers want to drive top-down windows-up, then buy a freaking coupe with a sunroof!!

Any other opinions??
