This could be the entire basis of a CSI episode.
They could seach the car, not find anything, then search it again and not find anything until the find the owner's manual (or search at S2ki.com)

with the homeland security act they can search, arrest, detain, etc..without probable cause if they suspect you to terrorism activities or related stuff...that is what happened when they passed it. we really have no rights when it comes to terrorism..that is a price we pay...now the cop on the beat may not want to get into this, but it is a possibility...just cooperate and don't do stuff and drive.

If you've got something you don't want a cop to find, this is what you do:
Put it in a locked, opaque container in your trunk.
Without probable cause (you exhale pot smoke in his face), an officer needs to ask you to open the trunk. You can say no, and he will try to bluff you into it. Say no. Be polite, but say no. If you know you've got something you don't want him to find, say no. He's going to look anyway, but this gives your lawyer something to argue in court.
Then, after he opens your trunk, he's got to ask to open the locked container. Anther chance to say no.
Please note: if you've got a small amount a pot on you, KEEP IT IN YOUR POCKET. Especially in California or other decrimilized states. If it's in your poket, he might find it, but if it's in your car and he finds it, he can take your car.
It's very hard to get your car back once the state takes it for a drug crime.
So avoid the "$33,000 fine" and just keep it in your pocket.
great book: Marijuana Law.

The question is, how many times can you dip into the secret compartment before you forget where it is?

Keep it in your hand (not practical when you're driving, so give it to your passenger), then just throw it away if you get pulled. Even if they find it they will have to prove that you dropped it. Another trick is to wrap it up and keep it in your mouth, if the worst comes to the worst you swallow it...
