So you did nothing to prevent it from happening again?

Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me.
Thank you. I came in here just to post that.

I said the same thing about another guy that got hit twice in FL. Many got pissed at me for being insensitive, but it's people without common sense that keep getting jacked, helping thieves profit and motivating them to keep jacking other S2000's (eventually including mine) and raising my insurance rates. I have no sympathy for the OP.

If you read these forums with all the talk about seat theft and still leave your S2000 outside unprotected, don't come crying when your seats are gone. If you still do it AFTER getting jacked, well.... you're an idiot.

Why didn't you get seat locks?
Not trying to be the defender, but I've never heard of seat locks.

SoCal had a thread about a month or so ago about people stealing hardtops.

Thanks guys, I suppose you're entitled to your holier-than-thou attitude.

In my defense,

-I have just a few months left on the lease and any significant expenditures to protect the car make zero economic sense (I have very low deductibles).

-I also have never heard of seat locks. Even if I put seat locks on the car, the top would have been cut and the steering wheel stolen, and, probably, other collateral damage. I find it hard to believe that a $12,000 claim will raise my insurance by much more than a $5,000 claim, if any at all.

-I don't have a garage to park the car in. It's a condo with a carport.

Not sure what you would've done that actually makes any sense.

dombey's been around long enough to know about the seat locks.

Probably thought the car lease was over soon, so why bother.

That's not a knock, but just saying.

Was the car parked outside?

I have one Sparco Evo and one OEM seat. I wonder if that makes it less attractive for thieves. I'd imagine they'd be easier to sell in sets.

I guess if you can't take care of your stuff you should get rid of it..., An alarm would have taken care of this for you. YOu can buy a hardtop.., There were ways of preventing this. Had I had my seats stolen the day I got the car back it would have been in the shop getting seat locks and an alarm...,

Sorry hard time feeling sorry for you. I know that is harsh but hey it is a rough world out there.

I'm not looking for you to feel sorry for me.

I fully agree this stuff is largely preventable; but like I said, the timeline here prevents any of those options from making sense. Spending more than $100 just doesn't make sense.

CKIT- I am almost 100% on the Car Talk forums, my stolen seat threads are really the only time I've ever hung out in the S2k Talk forum - honestly never heard of seat locks before.

It's also worth noting I moved into this place a month ago, from a house w/ a garage - never had to deal with this stuff before so it isn't like I should've bought an alarm 2 years ago.

Lots of good info there, plus seat locks, what they are, why people buy them, where to get them, etc.

The worst part for dombey is even if he replaces his seats, he's a mark now.
