sorry for hear this, S2000 without hardtop attract more thieves. Try to park in a garage or more secured location, otherwise you won't sleep well at night and this will happen again.

[QUOTE=hoof,Jan 12 2006, 03:06 PM] My rates shouldn't, in theory, go up (State Farm has been really good about that in the past, neither of my prior 2 claims increased my rates, including the $5500 repair on my 3-week old car back in '97).

I would rather have slashed seats, a slashed dash and a kicked in door while knowing full well those a-holes will be getting nothing for their efforts. I'll take satisfaction where I can get it.
If they are stupid enough to stick around, maybe one of us will catch them and get some payback.

Unfortunately, I've joined the bretheren of S2k owners who've had their seats ripped off.
I got your PM and sent you a reply.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Man this sucks! I live around Parmer Lane. Would never think Austin would be this bad.
I garage the car but it makes me think twice about where I park other than home. i.e. gf's house or work.
Good luck and everyone that lives in Austin,TX watch out for hot seats going around, I'm sure I will.

Sorry to hear about your loss, JohnnyRingo. A coworker said he knew someone in the area that lost their seats about two weeks ago. Either you're who he's talking about, or at least three cars have been hit in the last few weeks in the Austin/surroundings area.
I talked to the body shop, and they said State Farm is willing to pay for new top/seats (due to the difficulty of getting used parts). Right now the estimate is around $9700, which is getting uncomfortably close to the "totaled" limit.

That's a damn shame. The only other thieving group here is Honda and what they charge for seat components.
That's about $6568.20 for two seats - not including labor.

.18 x 4 = $.72 saved
then add in the $61 for Kodians seat lock
