Do you clean and condition your leather regularly?

I believe there is nothing you can do to prevent this except to condition and treat on a regular basis. In my leather or Cloth seats, it tends to wear. For me especially on the right side, because of my wallet in my right poket. It's just a wear and tear.

I realize that there will be some wear due to basic design, but I also contend that the leather is sub-par, especially to be used in an area like this. I have driven 98-01 Accords, with factory leather that is definitely able to withstand more wear. If Honda did it for the Accord, why not our cars?
Show me an Accord with OEM side bolsters as high as an S2000, and maybe I'll believe you have a valid complaint.

Some manufacturers used to make the side bolsters of vinyl instead of leather to solve this problem. Would you prefer that?

I have sheep skin on my 99 integra, with 116,000 miles, and the seats look like new. I use the car in my business. I get end and out of the car, four to five times a day.

Seat wear is certainly unavoidable with our cars. If Honda doesn't fix it under warranty (I doubt they will since it is considered wear and tear), you can always get the seats redone in a leather color of your choice. My brother has an 04 350Z and he had his seats done (by choice, not due to wear). It cost about $200 per seat and it came out great.

I was surprised when I saw the wear on some tan S2000 seats, they didn't look as durable as my black seats. Post some photos.

If you don't put any weight on the side bolsters, they should last a long time. As already mentioned, take care getting in and out of your car. Don't use the side bolsters to sit on, or support your weight when reaching into your car to grab something.

Exactly, you make my point, hence the side bolsters, that are in our car, are designed to high for ingress or egress from the car, without attaining and unacceptable wear pattern. Now I know many will take the stance, that the higher bolsters enhance the driving experience, by better cradling the driver in the seat. I do not deny this, yet why isn't a better quality leather used, at least in this area. If they can use a higher quality leather in an Accord, with low side bolsters, then why not our cars! And YES, I would rather have vinyl than this cheap excuse for leather that we have. What good is a leather interior, with as ugly wear spot, that occurs within 6 months. And it is not just me, I have yet to be in a S2000 over the age of 6 months, that is not starting to show this wear pattern. I am sure that there are garage queens out there that don't, but they are few and far between. Others may be getting around this by use of seat covers. Is this any better than vinyl? What is the use of having a leather interior, if you got to put a cover over it to protect it? Why can't they at least use a higher quality material in this area?

Thanks for the tip, I will keep it in mind since Honda proably will not fix this.

My car has a tan interior and it does seem to be worse on the tan, as you mentioned.
