If they take your seats you can't drive the car safely. If they slash them, you can still drive it to the shop.

^I agree

Why can't all S2k owners just come to realize that buying seat locks should just be a standard. If we all had seat locks installed word would get around soon enough to these low-life scumbag thieves that it's pointless to even attempt to steal our seats now.

One word....Katzkin.
if your seats get slashed get them reupholstered with Katzkins, much better quality than oem, and you can get it done in various colors, had them put in my Wrangler added heated seats...i had a great winter this past year, my tush loved the heated leather seats...

Every post about a slashed top to steal seats seems to end in 1 of 2 ways...

1) They slashed my top, and I discovered my seats were gone.

2) They slashed my top, discovered I had seat locks, and slashed the hell out of the front and backs of my seats out of frustration.
I've been around here for over 4 years. I've never heard of anyone getting thier seats slashed. Even so, seat covers are far cheaper than seats and like others have said, you can still drive the car.

Regardless, the thief went away empty handed, thats a win in my book regardless of what happens to the car.

just get the seatlocks to at least piss off the theif. i do agree though, once word gets out that a bunch of s2k's have seat locks theives will get discouraged and the incidence of top slashing for seats will decrease

i dont know why people get some of these crap insurance companies!!! I have American Family and the towed the car to the shop, had a rental ready, and when the bill for $7500 or so came in the approved it instantly. I am VERY happy with my insurance agency.
Also i will be getting these seat locks so at least they dont leave home with seats, but they wont touch my car in my garage at home without 3 dogs an a shotty up their a$$

seat locks or not, the thief either takes the seat or he vandalizes them. either way the insurance company pays but in the latter it is still driveable, you can uninstall them one at a time for the upholstery shop to do one at a time to eliminate down time.

I took the advice from this S2KCA member and made my own.

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...&#entry15583953

I used this technique and stuck a cap on top of the hex head. The silicone acts as an adhesive for the cap. Now if I could only get my hands on some of those McGard Anti Theft stickers. I may just have to go online and get some custom made. I'll distribute whatever I have leftover to members here.

I used a "keyed" hex screw as well. If you own the bit on the right you're the only other person I would have known to have one. Again, I will glob generous amounts of silicone.
