Scion FR-S (GT86; SRZ) vs S2K

In my experience as a firefighter, I have never seen a properly secured child (child safety seat properly installed) get more than a scratch in any accident, even pretty nasty ones involving tiny cars with extremely limited safety features. The adults are in far greater danger in any car and any car crash than a young child properly restrained. It is really incredible what those seats can protect against. I'd happily put my kid (once I have one of my own) in any car with good crash ratings, who cares what size it is.

Hello everyone, I have been thinking about trading my car(07 G35 Coupe) for a while now and my first choice was the S2000. I want to start going to track events (not drag) I have always loved the S2k and its community. However lately I've been fallowing all the new forums about the new Toyota/Subaru RWD front engine car that is said to be one of the best cars for its price range for actual car enthusiasts. I started a thread in one of their forums and from what I see most guys are actually very knowledgeable about car and 99% of them love the S2000. I just need your help to make my final decision. Both cars should be low to mid $20's good condition low miles for the S. I really want a AP2 I don't want to start a AP1vs2 war here. But I have always liked the look of the AP2 and I have driven both and I personally like the AP2 vs the AP1. I really don't care about the rear seat I have a TSX for a 4 door. I do a lot of driving however, I usually do about 20-25K a year, I did read the sticky about maintenance about the S2k but any addition info would be great guys. I know the S2000 has a huge aftermarket for the S and I know for sure they will also make one for the FR-S. So power wise I know there will be a solution all I really want out of the car is just a fun daily driver that I can actually take to the track and have fun.
Thank you everyone!!!!
Thank you everyone!!!!

If the convertible option is important, only 1 option between the 2. If it's not, I'd test drive both and see what you think.

Here is my story, I recently sold my pride and joy (1991 Toyota MR2 Turbo) that I had completely built up and spent a ton of money on...etc. I had always wanted an s2000 so I decided to sell the MR2 and begin the hunt for an s2000 since it was newer (06) and very reliable. I must say it was a great decision, it turns heads and is an absolute joy to drive. I love the lines on the car, I love how the interior is layed out and it is very comfortable. Having the drop top is a major plus as well. I also owned a 2002 Ford Escape which I had sold and picked up a newer daily 2010 Ford focus because I got a deal I couldn't pass up. I plan on keeping the s2000 for years to come as my "fun" car because it has a lot of potential, and a lot of aftermarket support. I then plan to sell the focus in a year or two and pick up a new F150 v6 ecoboost. IMO it is the best of both worlds.
Take it how you wish but I would recommend the s2000 (although it is biased being on an s2000 forum) because it is nimble, fairly quick, lots of aftermarket support, and has great styling. Not to mention that it is a proven car and I would be hesitant to get into one of the new Toyburus immediately as I can see there being kinks that need to be worked out.
I have never believed that a true sports car should have more than 2 seats, it is not supposed to be practical its suppose to be fun.

Although this is an S2000 oriented forum, I wanted to see if there were any people ready to tell me to wait. I like that everyone is telling me that I am asking a stupid question, or that they would go for the S2000.
It is kind of a lame question, but when you're about to plant down 15-17k for a car, I ask as many questions as I can. The fact that everyone said to go with the S2000 is pushing me to actually go and take a look at one, with the option to actually buy it if it's any good. I also like the fact that if I REALLY want to trade my car for an FR-S, I can.

What other *NEW* RWD car for that price-range, weight or weight proportions is out there? People complain about the power of these things, but really- a 200HP car or a 300HP car will only go so fast around twisties like the Dragon or Shady Valley before risk of killing yourself anyway. The media is making a big deal out of this car because it IS a big deal- a car that's going back to basics, with fun and handling. My only complaint is that I only wish it would be under $20k

You bring up a good point. Ive been looking into the GT86. It looks like a great car, and after watching countless youtube videos on it, it seems like it going to do quite well. I myself am sticking with S2K. My gf and I are the only ones to really ride in it so I dont need more room. Its got enough power and is fun as hell to hit vtec and pass people left and right. S2K is way to go. But we're all biased here.
