Xviper makes good sense. I see Cayenne Turbos and other Hi-End SUV's with performance tires going nowhere in the snow. Talk about idiots. Then they bitch and moan when the dealer sells them a set of winter tires that cost a couple grand which is peanuts compared to the cost of these things. I have blizzaks mounted on 16" rims and drive everyday in the winter, including in the snow, unless it gets too deep. Just a little common sense, nothing rocket science here.

Top down!
Just turn the heater on full blast. I run around Portland, OR with my top down all the time in the winter. With all of our rain, I'm not too picky about the temperatuure when the sun comes out. Coldest I've been out with the top down is 36 or so. Had on a winter coat and just put the heat on my hands. You do get some strange looks from people in their SUV's when you're stopped at lights though.

It's great that you guys can go top down in the winter and I'm sure it's a real head turner. However, have you folks read the owner's manual where it cautions you about at what temp and below that you SHOULD NOT be operating the soft top? Doing so in too cold a temp could cause the top material to crack and split. Your warranty will NOT cover you if this should happen.

I have been known to drive through more than 10" of snow and I live on a hill. But then, I have snow tires.
Having no snow tires in an S2000 in the snow doesn't make an owner an "idiot". It just makes him/her uneducated, uninitiated, uninformed, catch off guard, somewhat not clued in or perhaps even "wishfully thinking", but "idiot" is a bit harsh. Around this time of year, by your definition, there are a lot of "idiots" in S2000s, huh?
OK...I'll say it...the guy's an idiot.

It just common sense to have a good set of snow tires on any winter driven vehicle - Especially living in Canada and ESPECIALLY on a RWD!

but as for him calling that guy an idiot ....SO WHAT other members on this board say far worse thing to people all the time but no one speaks up and then this guy calls a guy an idiot driving a "summer" car in winter...hmm well maybe i would have said it a little nicer but c'mon guys give this a break! (if you're new to this forum be careful what you say cuz people will pounce on you, wait till your a member then you get to call people names i guess )

We run meets all year round, usually 3 a month, including winter.

Doesn't really matter what the weather is, the car has a good heater, so the top comes down.

I would think there are just as many if not more S2k owners that don't have a clue the equipped tires are no good in snowy conditions. I have never driven the S in the snow, although I am sure it is an experience from how it is with temps in the 20's on summer tires in dry conditions. Almost comprable to driving my truck on snow.

The '05 manual just says don't operate it in "freezing weather" or when "covered with ice or snow". Seems like 36F should be okay as long as all the ice and snow had melted off.

Or just lower/raise the top in a heated garage before you venture out.
