our project car is down to 2240lbs. we used dry carbon almost everywhere. the biggest weight savings was using dry carbon doors to replace the stock doors

stock = 63lbs
CF door = 9lbs w/o window.

guess you learn something new everyday. cf apparently absorbs vibration pretty well.

just be careful with that CF...

friend of mine has a nasty accident with it, the hood flew open and damaged the roof and windscreen

all the best

Not true at all.

If the piece is made with vacuum bagging and resin injection, the amount of resin will be much lower than if the piece is wetted out, then rolled into the mold. The main difference between dry carbon and carbon with a gel coat, is exactly that, one has a shiny gel coat, one doesn't. The gel coat adds weight, but not much.

To answer your question, if you get the CF hood to lose weight, you are getting it for the wrong reason. You will drop some weight, but probably like 1lb. If you want the lightest CF hood, get the OEM style CF hood.

I really had no idea about the weights of the Mugen and Amuse. I know they are expensive though. But if you are going to pay over $1000 for a hood, it better be lighter than stock.

If I were buying one, I'd buy the TS look alike.

I actually will be getting it to vent the heat in my engine bay after I finish my custom front undertray that extends to the rear of the front wheels.

yes Cwest and ASM both have CF doors available but they aren't cheap.
